“EMERGENCY LIFE-SAVING THROWING STROPS”

During routine inspection of the emergency devices provided as a safety precaution to swimmers at various locations around the island it has been identified of an act of mindless vandalism being carried out (as pictured above) to one of those provided for use at the pier head in Georgetown. This is the second time an incident of this type has occurred to which the fire service has had to carry out otherwise unnecessary repair or replacement along with the additional cost and time this involves.

May we remind those responsible that these devices are there for the protection of the general public and should not be tampered with in any way particularly acts of irresponsible behaviour such as this.

Anyone found tampering with this equipment will be reported to the Police and may be charged with criminal damage.

William Minto

Senior Fire Officer
