Expressions of interest are sought from persons living and working on Ascension Island to establish and operate a coffee shop/café-type business in the property known as “Temptations”.

Expressions of interest are sought from persons living and working on Ascension Island to establish and operate a coffee shop/café-type business in the property known as “Temptations”. Persons who have ‘visitor’ status on Ascension are not eligible to apply.
Interested persons should submit applications addressed to the Administrator by no later than 31 March 2009. The application should be accompanied by a full business plan which describe the proposed business, details of the proposed opening hours, method of operation, staffing, estimated financial investment and expectations.
There are a range of factors and key considerations which will be taken into account before a Land Occupancy Permit will be granted for a new business which includes:-
- To what extent the proposed business is in the public interest and of benefit to those working and living on Ascension;
- To what extent the proposed business aids the proper functioning of the Island
A leaflet entitled “Guide for Businesses; Land and Business Policy” is available to assist you and is obtainable from the Administration Department, Island Building.
Under the terms of the Land and Business Policy for Ascension Island, a Land Occupancy Permit will be issued to the successful applicant which will be valid until end contract date of the applicant or applicants spouse, whichever is appropriate.
An annual fee of £1656 (i.e. £138 per month) will be charged for the permit, plus Property Tax of £652.50 per annum (i.e. £54.38 per month). Utilities and building maintenance costs will be the responsibility of the business operator.
The building may not be used, wholly or in part, as residential accommodation, nor for any other purpose other than that set out in the permit.
