The hounds gathered at the Bullocks Pond parking area. Although we’re glad that Fluffy has found some companions, her company is missed by us humans!

Apres Hashers: Canoodler, No Nuts, Plain Nuts, Amber, Papa, Aimee
Off went the runners while the walkers and talkers piled into a few vehicles, and off we went to the base of Mountain Red Hill. There were a few moans from Bloodsucker and Desert Rose – the scenery was looking distressingly similar to the Lost Girls hash! There was a certain amount of relief when the on-on was called and we headed off across the road!
The first bit was fairly easy, just a bit of picking our way through the rocks. Unfortunately, we soon found ourselves at the top of a very deep ravine, and yes, of course, the on-on headed straight down!! A few slips and loose rocks, but we all made it safely to the bottom!! A circle check along the way sure helped. After that it was across the open plain, when suddenly we noticed in the distance, on the top of South Red Crater, a line of itsy bitsy figures! Was it the FRBs?? Sure was, and guess where we were heading!!
We passed the FRBs on the way to the Letterbox – it seems they were pretty much doing our route in reverse, with a little extra thrown in so they could stretch their legs! On-on the WATs continued, across the plain, and then up the crater path. Gumby Two-Scoops and Glitter Babe started out in a race for the top, but both soon slowed down! It looked for a while as if a couple of the littler hashers were going to wait at the bottom of the mountain, but this was not to be. They had to get their stamps as well!
A little while was spent at the summit signing the book, stamping body parts (Blastoise looked like a mad biker with tattoos all over!), and admiring the views. Then it was time to start the long trek back to the road. Luckily, the hares had been kind (sort of) and we didn’t have to climb the ravine again (the FRBs did!). It was a fairly easy walk until we hit a steep cliff. At this point Goldilocks decided it was time for a lift, but after the steepest bit, she was back on her own two feet and climbing up the rest of the way with just a little help from the old folks!!
When we got to the road, Little Chuffer got a second wind, and took off running down the road to the vehicles. It’s amazing what a challenge from I’m Easy can do! Well done to all the kids for completing a tough hash. Little Chuffer definitely gets the gold star for doing the whole hash all on his own. It must be those bright orange shoes absorbing energy from the sun and giving him bouncy feet. The silver star goes to Gloldilocks, who except for that short piggyback ride from Fish Artist, made it on her own as well. And congrats go to the older kids as well, who left a lot of the adults well behind in the dust!!
Everyone gratefully piled back into the vehicles, eager to get back to the refreshments and munchies! When the WATs arrived, the FRBs were already collecting wood for a bonfire, doing their best to clean up the environment, and outdo each other. Wild Oats apparently wins the prize since he showed up with an entire dead tree!! The fire was soon blazing.
Gumby-Two Scoops and the rest of the kids had a great time with the remote control truck, although a few of the younger drivers need a little more practice since they managed to run it into the cairn and a few guava bushes!!
Great hash, Irish Whiskey and Buford T. Gee, three letterboxes in three weeks….. we’ll all have to start carrying our books!! Where to next week, one has to ask??
Next Week: Command Hill
Hares: Wild Oats, Milk Me Mickey & Stinky Fingers
