REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

First I would like to thank the Ascension Island Government for assisting with the seating arrangements, the RAF for the wreaths, the Islander Office for photo copying the service sheets, Johnny for once again setting up the PA system and operating George, Scouts for helping with the pews and anyone else who helped prior to and after the service.

Although there were a few slight showers of rain earlier that morning it was a joy to see the number of people present for the service.   In addition to our usual wreath layers we had the pleasure of the Hon. Eric Benjamin laying a wreath on behalf of the people of St. Helena.  Eric who is one of the Councillors back on St. Helena  was passing through Ascension on his way back from the United Kingdom.

With Remembrance Sunday  behind us we are reminded that Christmas is slowly creeping up on us.  We know that around this time every year a number of our people are looking forward to spending some time with their families back on St. Helena, United Kingdom and elsewhere we hope that you will enjoy your well earned leave.

FUND RAISING FOR ST. MARY'S AND GIRL GUIDES.

This coming Saturday will see a dance to raise funds for St. Mary's Parish and the Girl Guides.  We trust that you will be able to come and support this fund raising event and at the same time enjoy another Saturday evening.

I will be leaving here on 29th November to accompany my wife Jenny to the United Kingdom for medical treatment. If there is no Priest on the Island during my absence , Lay Minister, Cheryl Anthony, will conduct the services in St. Mary's.

Services for the month of December will be published on this page next week.

Have a pleasant week.

Canon Clive.
