In a meeting of Executive Council this morning, Governor Clancy announced that Nomination Day will take place on 16 August 2005.
In a meeting of Executive Council this morning, Governor Clancy announced that Nomination Day will take place on 16 August 2005. This leaves the electorate with just over 30 days to gather candidates for Election.
The General Election will take place shortly after, on 31 August 2005.
On Nomination Day the Candidate or his or her Proposer or Seconder will have to hand in their nomination form to the Returning Officer. The venues for this will be announced shortly.
Later this week, Governor Clancy will issue the Writs of Election and following this, SHG will announce where people can obtain nomination forms.

Governor Clancy Issues the Writs of Election
Following the announcement about Nomination Day in Tuesday’s Executive Council Meeting, Governor Clancy issued the Writs of Election today Thursday 14 July 2005.
Nomination Day has been set for 16 August 2005.
For persons living in the East Electoral Area, Nomination Day will take place at the Jamestown Community Centre.
For persons living in the West Electoral Area, Nomination Day will take place at the Kingshurst, Community Centre.
On this day, the Candidate or his or her Proposer or Seconder should hand in their nomination form to the Returning Officer at one of the above venues, according to the Electoral Area he or she is standing for.
