ASCENSION:

Apart from a few showers, it was pretty dry across the Island. Daytime temperatures were similar to the previous week, but it was quite windy during the afternoons with a gust to 30 KT being recorded at the Airhead on Tuesday.  Similar weather is likely through the rest of this week.

ST. HELENA:

More in the way of showers occurred over St Helena during the week but there were still some good spells of sunshine by day with a total of 53.1 hours being recorded at the Met Office.

UK:

As expected it was a cold week across the UK with snow in many places. There were reported blizzard conditions at times with schools closing and disruptions to road and air travel. The highest temperature for the week was 10 Celsius at Saunton Sands in Devon on Saturday.  Overnight Thursday into Friday the mercury feel to minus 11 Celsius at Kinbrace in the Scottish Highlands.  It was not all doom and gloom though, with the Hebrides seeing a good deal of sunshine through the week and Newquay in Cornwall managing 10 hours during Sunday. It will be a little less cold over the next few days, but the cold weather will return with the worst of the snow likely to be in the south and east.

FALKLANDS:

 Quite warm and dry to start the week with 19.6 being recorded on Wednesday. Things went down hill after that with a fair bit of rain on Saturday and some cold weather with showers on Sunday as the winds turned towards the South.
